How to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10

Now, I've upgraded my 2010 VAIO from Windows 7 Professional to Windows 10 Professional for free.

Upgrade process

I upgraded using the Windows10Upgrade24074.exe I got in advance.

Windows10Upgrade24074.exe is a free updater provided by Microsoft, but "Windows 10 upgrade for customers using assistive technology" in Japan ended on December 31, 2017, so it is no longer available. I will.

1. Software License Terms

Windows10Upgrade24074.exe is an English updater, but the license terms are displayed in Japanese.

2. Getting your upgrade ready

Once you accept the software license terms, the file will begin downloading.

3.22GB related files have been downloaded to the C:\Windows10Upgrade folder. The upgrade process will begin immediately after the download is complete.

3. Your upgrade is ready

The upgrade was completed 4 hours after 3 or 4 reboots.

4. Thank you for updating to th latest version of Windows 10

Click “Exit” to complete the upgrade.

How to revert to Windows 7?

Prior to upgrade, Windows 7 related files were backed up in the C:\Windows.old folder.

If you don't like how Windows 10 works, you can use the recovery option to get back to Windows 7 within 10 days of the upgrade.

Even if you switch back to Windows 7, any PC with a history of upgrading to Windows 10 can always switch back to Windows 10.

Settings> Update & Security> Recovery> Return to Windows 7
