Measures for troubles of favorite functions

You can no longer function by selecting "Add current location to favorite" from the context menu that appears when you right-click "favorites" in Windows Explorer's left pane.

To investigate the cause

Since this symptom appeared after deleting the "unknown account" found in the user profile, I guessed that the file of the favorite relation of the account being logged in "unknown account" was included .

I found out that the favorite function does not work in environments in which the "link" folder does not exist in the folder of the currently logged-in account name under c: \ Users.

Procedure to restore link folder

Since the "Link" folder exists in the Administrator account, copying the folder will solve it, but that does not work. It is necessary to make registry file recognize existence of link folder.

To restore the linked folder Use the regsvr32 command to restore the system folder including the link folder to the initial state.

1. Specify a file name and start execution and enter a command

Start execution by specifying a file name: Windows key + R
Command: regsvr32 / i: U shell32.dll

2. End of procedure

After a while wait and the following dialog is displayed, initialization is successful.

[Window Title] RegSvr 32
[Content] DllRegisterServer and DllInstall of shell32.dll succeeded.

3. Folder after command execution

My folder that had only my favorites and desktop has been restored to its initial state. Link folders were also created.

Operation check

Since the link folder has been restored, "Add current location to favorite" now works.

Afterword

My folders, which were only favorites and desktop, have been restored to their initial state, and the links folder has been generated.

Now that the links folder is back, "Add current location to favorites" works.

Don't delete files and folders in the system folder such as "User Profile".
