[Robin] Get Factory Image Steps to update to Android Nougat 7.1.1

Nextbit Robin has been updated to Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Information on Factory Image and its application is posted on the Nextbit official website.

However, since it is not written about how to unlock Robin 's bootloader, you have to look it up on your own.

If you can unlock the bootloader, you can transfer the image file to Robin just by running flash-all.bat which is included in N108.zip.

Factory Image is an image file (genuine ROM) for returning Robin to the factory shipped state. Nextbit offers multiple versions such as 6.0.1 / 7.0 as well as Android 7.1.1.

This posting details the procedure for upgrading Robin to Android 7.1.1.

The overall flow is as follows.

1. Download Factory Image
2. Unlock bootloader
3. Launch Robin in fastboot mode
4. Transfer image file (such as running flash-all.bat)

Procedure to transfer Factory Image to Robin

1. Download Factory Image

Factory Image can be obtained from Razer's site which acquired Nextbit.

Unlocking bootloader  initializes Robin's data, so back up the necessary files.

2. Unlock bootloader

Reference: Robin's option setting

Flash-all.bat included in N108.zip changes Robin's settings as follows. When file transfer fails, it is necessary to change Robin's setting manually.

Robin> option

Developer Options	ON
unlock	ON
USB debugging	ON

3. Start Robin in fastboot mode

When you start Robin in fastboot mode by pressing [Power + Volume Down], connect it to the PC with the USB cable.

4. Extract N108.zip, move to N108 folder, start command prompt

If you decompress N108.zip with an archiver supporting .zip format, the N108 folder will appear.

Open N108 folder and confirm that flash-all.bat exists, let's start command prompt in the following way.

1. Open N108 folder
2. Hold Shift on the keyboard in the blank area and right click
3. Select "Open command window here"

5. Run flash-all.bat

Enter flash - all.bat at the command prompt and press the return key to start transferring the image file.

In my environment transfer finished in about 5 minutes.

Robin automatically reboots after the transfer is completed.

6. End of procedure

Let's make sure Robin has been upgraded to Android 7.1.1.

Please note that all settings are initialized and returned to the factory shipping state.
