Steps to Japaneseize IrfanView 4.44

IrfanView is an image viewer for Windows developed by Irfan Skiljan and provided as freeware.

The default language is English, but it can be localized by installing a Japanese file (Japanese.dll).

Unfortunately, it is rare for Japanese files to be posted on the official site simultaneously with the release of the new version of IrfanView, so it is possible to apply the old version of Japanese files for a while after the release of the new version.

Although IrfanView has started as an image viewer, installing a plug-in allows you to add video playback, an archiver function, etc.

At the time of writing this article, a file (Japanese module) to translate IrfanView Version 4.44 into Japanese is not listed on the official site, but it can be obtained from Shibasaki's site.

This article notes the procedure for obtaining and installing a Japanese module compatible with IrfanView 4.44.

IrfanView 4.44 Japanese module installation procedure

When installing the Japanese module of IrfanView, let's execute it with IrfanView closed.

1. Download Japanese module

Download the latest version jpn44401.zip at the time of writing from Mr. Amagasaki's site.

2. Copy Japanese.dll to Languages

Extract jpn 44401.zip with your favorite archiver.

Unzip jpn44401zip to obtain Japanese.dll, so copy it to the Languages folder under the folder where IrfanView is installed.

3. Launch the language screen of IrfanView

IrfanView> Options> Change language ...

Select Options from the IrfanView menu bar
Select Change language ...

4. Change to JAPANESE.DLL 4.44

Select JAPANESE.DLL Version 4.44 from the language screen (Properties / Settings / Language) and select "OK".

5. End of procedure

This completes the procedure for converting IrfanView to Japanese.

It can be used without rebooting.

For the author's convenience, development of IrfanView Japanese module seems to be the last in version 4.44. I am indebted until now.

I feel unwilling to continue, but I am retiring Japanese module development of "IrfanView" in this version (4.44).
It was an ugly translation etc. Thank you for your patronage until now.
Development of "IrfanView" will still continue, but I will withdraw a little ahead.
